HTD 006 - Sleazy McQueen - Big Times, Big Tings (The Remixes) - OUT NOW!

1. Big Times, Big Tings (SMQ Dub)

2. Big Times, Big Tings (Cole's Ska Mix)

Out Now exclusively at
Beatport!

Sleazy McQueen’s latest offering 'Big Times, Big Tings' has a dub ragga house feel to it, showing that the Boston-based Headtunes Recordings aren’t afraid to push the boundaries with the music they release.  McQueen is ably assisted by Rigi iTek on vocals and Q-Burns Abstract Message who plays the melodica.

Sleazy McQueen is no stranger to various genres of the dance scene with releases on Pilot, Eight-Tracks, Greenhouse, Chillin, House Arrest and DAE.  His tracks have been supported by DJs including Mark FarinaDJ Heather, Jimpster and Prins Thomas. 2009 is looking like a big year for him with upcoming releases on Bananza, Bearfunk, Hairy Claw and Chillin.

Cole Medina, “producer of legend and mystery”, has released music that house and disco DJs the world over know and cherish on his own label, House Arrest, as well as American Standard, Hairy Claw and Internasjonal.

What some are saying:

Doc Martin - Thanks for the promo.  Coles Ska mix will work the morning groove well.

Rick Preston - Smoking!!! Every mix is golden!

Jason Hodges - Breath of fresh air!  Always love the dub choons!

Charles Spencer (Loveslap) - Club Dub is my favorite mix on this.

Andy (Inland Knights, Toka Project) - Intresting EP from Headtunes....like all, but the club dub is the one we would rock out.

Radio Support from:   Club FM, Proton Radio, MyHouse-YourHouse, and Bora Bora.

Coming out June 30th will be the vinyl release of Big Times, Big Tings with the original and remixes by B-Team(aka All Good Funk Alliance), Nick Chacona, and a new remix from Cole Medina

Mario Dujic 'Exceeding Joy EP'
(Headtunes Digital)

A Shame this is only digital but if it were vinyl it may well sport a throbbing rooster's stiffie, making place on the decks difficult. Lead cut 'Smile' is the kind of tuune which eases in subtly on pulsating groove action before building in glorious sonic plateaux, in this case with spiralling melodies and Mayday-style flickers bertraying 23-year-old Mario from Croatia's classical training. He also has a nifty way with jazz piano going on the flourishes littering 'From Above', while 'My Need Is You' is content with its sturdy organ groove (and delighted with the sublime remix from Taipei's Nosa Recordings supremo Sona). This is Mario's debut release: definitely a name to watch.

Kris Needs 4/5

Why thanks Kris. We got a stiffie as well when we heard it. I think I may have even conceived my child that night.

Look out for more great tunes on the way!

Get over your Monday Blues with DJ Harvey

I know everyone is suffering from the Monday blues, so I thought we would post a little something up to get you going and ready for Tuesday. This is a little video of the man, the legend Mr. Harvey. The man that helped introduce the disco edit revolution. He's played everywhere and even owns a dope gallery in Hawaii that is a club on the weekend.

This from the Sarcastic Disco "Black Cock Edition" on September 6, 2008.

For more music from the man, check out Sarcastic Disco
.

He is also re-pressed all of his classic Black Cock records, so get them while their still around.

Who said vinyl was dead?
